William Henry Hartline
(1815-1894)

The obituary for William Hartline was found in the Montgomery Ledger, dated Tuesday December 12, 1894, and published in Pottstown, Pa.

"William Hartline, age 79 years, 7 months, 9 days, died December 5, 1894, at the Pottstown Hospital, where he had been for treatment three weeks. He was a sufferer from asthma, dropsy, and heart disease, and had been obliged to sleep sitting in a chair for about thirty years, owing to his asthmatic trouble. Mr. Hartline was born in Berks County, above Reading; he was a quiet, worthy, and upright citizen, respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. His wife died four years ago. They had eight children, five living. Matilda, wife of William Bradford, Newark, Del.; Rebecca, wife of John P. Henzey, Philadelphia; Charles H. and George W. Hartline, Pottstown and Alfred Hartline, Amityville. Funeral on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.; interment at Pottstown Cemetery."

Note: The United Brethren Church was located in Amityville and in 1876 was situated between the cemetery surrounding the Lutheran Church and a tin smith shop. This church was demolished in the early 1900s due to damage from a storm. The location of any church records for this congregation is not known.

The obituary of Rachel Hartline has been found in the Montgomery Ledger dated Tuesday, January 20, 1891, published in Pottstown, Pa..

"Rachel Hartline, wife of William Hartline, died on Monday, January 12 of paralysis and other ailments, at the home of her son, George W. Hartline, 921 South Street, Pottstown. Her age was 73 years, 9 months, 27 days. Deceased leaves a husband to mourn her loss and she was the mother of eight children, of whom five are living - Matilda, wife of William Bradford of Newark, N.J.; Rebecca, wife of John P. Henzy of West Philadelphia; Charles H. and George W. Hartline of Pottstown; and Albert M. Hartline of Amityville, Berks County. She leaves 23 grandchildren. The funeral took place last Friday morning at 10 o'clock and proceeded to Amityville, Berks County for interment."

Arlene Hartline Garrott

Cape Girardeau, MO--ARLENE HARTLINE GARROTT, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at the Lutheran Home.  She was born March 8, 1922 in Tamms, Ill., daughter of Eugene and Reba Smith Hartline.  She married Wayne Wallace Garrott.  He died in 1992.  Garrott was a member of East Cape Baptist Church.  She had been a cook at Denny's IGA.  Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Lemons and Carol Rose of Zalma, MO; a son, Cletus Garrott of Moberly, MO; a brother, Winston Hartline of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, a granddaughter and a sister.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond Oxford officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola, IL.

Ferry H. Hartline


ANNA, Illinois. -- Ferry H. Hartline, 84, of Anna died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 28, 1918, in Dongola, Ill., daughter of Everett Ferry and Lois Karraker Hinkle. She and John Bon Hartline were married Aug. 30, 1941, in Anna Illinois.
Hartline was a former member of A-J Garden Club, a member of Holly Society of America, Azalea Society, and Rhododendron Society.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Dr. Bon Hartline of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Alice Hartline of Murphysboro, Ill.; a sister, Mary Coleman of Anna; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Anna City Cemetery.

Marie Eller Hartline


Marie Eller Hartline, 75, Salisbury (North Carolina), died Saturday (Jan. 13, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after seven weeks of serious illness.
Born Sept. 23, 1925, in Rowan County, Mrs. Hartline was a daughter of the late Adam Ray and Fannie Trexler Eller. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she had worked for Duke Power’s Buck Steam Plant in her earlier life. She later retired from Palmer’s Stationery. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include husband James P. Hartline, whom she married May 19, 1951; sons Larry A. Hartline and James “Jimmie” P. Hartline Jr., both of Salisbury; daughters Nancy Hannold and Janet Hartline, both of Salisbury; brother Jim Eller, Mount Holly; sisters Betty Eller Holmes and Mary Eller Durrette, both of Salisbury; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services:11 a.m. Monday, Lyerly Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Griffis, senior pastor, and the Rev. Sherri Barnes, associate pastor, First United Methodist Church. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6:30-8 tonight, at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at he home of son Jimmie Hartline.

     William Henry “Buddy” Hartline, Jr., 65, of Ringgold, Ga., died on Monday,
     March 8, 2010 at Parkridge Hospital in Chattanooga.

     Mr. Hartline was born in Summerville, Ga. on Nov. 6, 1944, son of the late
     William Henry Hartline and Edith Hartline. He was retired from the Norfolk
     Southern Railway as a brakeman.

     Mr. Hartline is survived by his children, Jeremy Todd Hartline, Stephanie
     Lyn Everett(Thomas Wayne Everett), Kerrie Frances Dalrymple(Andy Todd
     Dalrymple); brothers, Larry Hartline and Danny Hartline; sisters, Dorothy
     Shankles, Judy Hurley and Elaine Coker; six grandchildren; and a number of
     nieces and nephews.

     Funeral Services for Mr. Hartline will be held Wednesday, March 10, at 1
     p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Moeller
     officiating. Interment will follow in the Wood Station Cemetery.

     Pallbearers will be Daniel Trimby, Ben Langston, Jason Talley, Dustin
     Talley, Skip Rominger, and Bubba Drew. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike
     Salmon, Lewis Railey, Sonny Dillard, Adam Everett.

     Mr. Hartline will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home, who is in charge
     of the arrangements.

Jack I. Hartline
(1929-2011)

Jack I. Hartline, 82, of North Canton, Ohio died Tuesday, October 04, 2011 near Beallsville. He was born April 20, 1929 in Shidler, Oklahoma, a son of the late Albert and Abbey Raines Hartline. He was a retired employee of Timken Company in Canton and a US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War Era. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Clare Huth Hartline; a son, Steven; two sisters, Jean Agin and Flora Lucas. Surviving are his children, Jack Hartline, Anne Marie (Jerry) Paliswat, Dale (Laurie) Hartline, and David Hartline, all of Canton; eight grandchildren, Brett, Aubrey, Brad, Eric, Nicholas, Brian, Michael and Jaimie. My cousins, Brian and Michael, both play in the NFL. Brian is a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins and Michael is currently a free agent, who had previously signed with the Indianapolis Colts followed by the New England Patriots.

Oscar P. Hartline was born June 8, 1916, a son of Moses Newton and Betty (Poteet) Hartline, in Allen, Texas.

Oscar is survived by his daughter, Brenda Anderson and husband Harold of Farmersville, Texas; son, Ken Hartline and wife Teresa of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren, Joel, Stephanie, Candy, and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Justin, Ryan and Robbie; sisters, Hattie Stewart and Minnie Hooper both of Allen, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews and other loving relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; grandson Chris; brothers, Jess, Dewey, Horris, Pete and Aubrey; sisters, Erma and Mozelle.

Funeral Services were held September 9, 2011 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment at Ridgeview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mary Lucille Hartline, age 84 of Farmersville, Texas went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 17, 1920 in Pinson, Tennessee to Clifford and Winnie May (Ivy) Pruett. She married Oscar Hartline (above) on August 31, 1940 in McKinney, Texas. Mrs. Hartline retired as an engineer from Texas Instruments after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Farmersville Garden Club. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Oscar P. Hartline of Farmersville, Texas; son, Kenneth Ray Hartline and wife, Teresa of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Brenda Kay Anderson and husband, Harold of Farmersville, Texas; grandchildren, Joel Anderson and wife, Karen also of Farmersville, Candy Hartline of Garland, Texas, Stephanie Fernandez and husband, Robert of Carrollton, Texas, and Amanda Phillips of Richardson, Texas; great grandchildren, Robbie Lynn Fernandez of Carrollton, Texas, Justin Nicholas Anderson of Farmersville, Texas and Ryan Anderson of Farmersville Texas; sister, Lou Murphy and husband, Pete of McKinney, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gladys Davidson. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 13, 2005 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Dr. Jim Wicker officiating. Interment at Ridgeview Memorial Park.

Had son, Ernest Starr Hansberger III and daughter Martha Louise H. Britton; five grandchildren; brothers James Hartline, Charles M. Hartline, Buford R Hartline & William T. Ernest Starr Hansberger, Jr.
(1918-2010)

HANSBERGER, JR., ERNEST STARR Age 92, died December 6, 2010. He began his Real Estate career with Reconstruction Finance Corp. in 1946 and worked for Property Managers, Inc. from 1948 to 1983. He retired as part owner, Vice President and Secretary of Property Managers, Inc. Mr. Hansberger served as the Past-President of the Birmingham Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, 1998-1999; Past-Treasure of Birmingham Genealogical Society, 1995-1997; Past Squadron Commander of Vulcan Power Squadron, United States Power Squadron; and Past District Commander of District 17 (Southern States) United States Power Squadron. Mr. Hansberger grew up in Birmingham and attended Phillips High School. He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1935. He joined the Navy in 1942. He served on the USS Independence, and was a "Plank Owner" of the USS Independence, putting the Independence into commission. He saw duty in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Martha Hartline Hansberger. He is survived by his children, Ernest S., III (Vicki) and Louise Britton (Russell); grandchildren, Dave Edwards (Negar), Joy Clarke (Jeff), Ernest S. IV, Lynn Britton, and Blake Britton; and three great grandchildren.

Thelma M. Hartline Rowe

CANTON — Thelma M. Rowe, 74, of 400 Park Court, died at 10:10 a.m. on Friday (February 4, 2011) at the OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. She was born September 22, 1936, in Makanda, to Archie and Dorettia O'Daniell Hartline. Thelma married Edward E. Rowe on December 17, 1954, in Carbondale. He survives. Also surviving are four children, Kathy (Daniel) King, Diana Rowe, Phyllis Hadsall and Eugene E. (Brenda) Rowe all of Canton; two brothers, Lester (Pat) Hartline of Cobden, Orville (Sue) Hartline of Canton; nine grandchildren, Amber Petty, Bart King, Kyle Hilton, Amy Pringle, Tabitha shore, Patricia Reneau, Brandon Myers, Kaley Rowe, Sarah Rowe and 18 great grandchildren also survive.  Her parents; one brother, Junior Hartline; three sisters, Gladys Linton, Roseline Lingle, and Alena Hartline preceded her in death.  She worked as a Nurses Aid at the Graham Hospital in Canton. Thelma was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton and helped with the Wednesday kids aftercare program. She enjoyed lunch with her many friends after church on Sundays.
Thelma volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program, Lunch with friends, the American Red Cross, and Santa Jo's Workshop. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her friends at the park district and YWCA. Ed and her enjoyed trips to the gambling boat, playing bingo and cards.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with the Rev. Roger Russell officiating.  Visitation will be held two hours prior. Burial will be held at the White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

Florence Kindt (Hartline) Butler MAUSDALE -

Florence (Hartline) (Kindt) Butler, 96, of 35 Kindt Road, went to Our Lord on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010.
She was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Strawberry Ridge, a daughter of the late William and Welletta (Wagner) Hartline.

Florence was a 1931 graduate of Watsontown High School, a graduate of Bloomsburg Normal School with a bachelors degree in teaching, and Bucknell University with a masters degree in teaching supervision and administration.

She taught at the Jackson School in Liberty Township, Valley Consolidated School, Weatherly High School, tutored at Berwick Junior High School, Bloomsburg School System for 15 years and was associated with Bloomsburg University.

Florence joined the Washingtonville Lutheran Church and was active in the choir and taught Sunday school classes. She continued teaching the Sunday school class until the end of November.

She held various positions including working for the Bell Telephone Company at the home of her grandmother, Sarah Wagner, in Washingtonville. She was an instructor for the American Red Cross, worked at the Danville State Hospital, a receptionist for U.S. Rubber Company, and Director of the Danville Ferry Street Playground.

Her affiliations over the years included being a Post Councilor and lifetime member of the Daughters of America Lodge, a life member of the Montour County DeLong Community Fair Association, the Phoebe-Devitt Home Auxiliary, Montour County Historical Society, Alumni Association of Bloomsburg University and Bucknell University, American Association of University Women, Penn State Education Association, National Retired Teachers Association, Valley Township Volunteer Fire Company, AARP, Friends of the Thomas Beaver Library and the Washingtonville Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two stepsons, Thomas Butler, of Holiday, Fla., and Rev. Craig Butler, of South Carolina, one sister-in-law, Muriel Hartline, of Easton; 11 nieces and nephews; nine step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, S. Clifton Kindt on Dec. 24, 1986, her second husband, Charles A. Butler on April 20, 2000, one brother, Rev. Paul Hartline, one sister, Mary Hartline Yeigh and husband Benjamin Yeigh, and stepson, Dr. Kent H. Butler.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Washingtonville Lutheran Church, followed by the funeral at 11, with her pastor, the Rev. Melody Sell, officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Brady Funeral Home, Danville.

Melba “Charlie” Hartline, Obituary

Melba “Charlie” Hartline/Liebl, 50, of Oceanside, Calif., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Southern Pointe Nursing Home. Charlie was born on July 16, 1959 to the late Melba and Charles Hartline in Denison, Texas.

She married George Liebl on April 9, 1995, in Oceanside, Calif. She was a housewife whose hobbies included the Dallas Cowboys, reading books, taking photos of Harley Davidson Motorcycles, spending time on the beach, playing and reading to the grandkids and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by mother Melba Jean Harris-Rogers, father Charles Mosses Hartline and brothers Larry B. Hartline and Charles Hartline.

She is survived by spouse George Liebl; daughters Denise St. Clair and husband Shawn St. Clair and Michelle Goleman; sisters Francis Hartline and Renota Ralle and husband Jerry Ralle; brother Andy Hartline and wife Tammy Hartline; niece Donna DeVore; grandkids Blaine St. Clair, Blake St. Clair, Heather Donihoo, Kaitlyn Goleman, JW Donihoo, Remington Donihoo, Shyanne St. Clair and Hunter Donihoo.

Memorial contributions can be made to her daughter Denise St. Clair to help pay for services and medical expenses that were occurred.

Family and friends are welcomed to attend the services on Jan. 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 307 N. Franklin St., Colbert OK 74733.

JAMBORSKY, MARIAN HARTLINE - age 92, of Nashville, formerly of Farragut, passed away Friday morning, April 9, 2010 in Nashville. Marian was a graduate of Ft. Sanders School of Nursing. She retired as a Registered Nurse. She was a lifelong reader who passed on her love of books. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, William Jamborsky; brother, Robert Hartline of Cleveland, TN; sister, Shirley Ramsey of Chattanooga. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Lew Fields of Hernando, MS; son and daughter-in-law, William Eric and Jean Jamborsky of Nashville; grandson, Will Jamborsky also of Nashville; Sister, Edith Mary Wooten; brothers, James Howard Hartline and Francis Alexander Hartline; numerous nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday followed by funeral services at 4 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Rev. Beecher Dunsmore officiating.
